FAQ

Where do I find my organization ID?

In the app, under Settings → Organization, with a copy button. Or ask the API, with any token:

sh
curl https://api.infranest.io/api/organizations \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $INFRANEST_TOKEN"

Every organization the token can reach is listed with its id. A token made for one organization lists only that one.

Why an ID and not the organization's name or slug?

Names and slugs can change when someone renames the organization. An ID never changes, so a script written today keeps working.

Which base address do I use?

https://api.infranest.io/api. Every path in the reference starts after it.

My token gets wrong_organization. Why?

Tokens work in the organization they were created in. Create a token in the organization you want to reach, or one for all your organizations (see Tokens and scopes).

My token gets write_disabled. Why?

API writes are switched on per organization during the rollout. Reading works meanwhile. Ask us to switch your organization on.

My token suddenly gets unauthenticated. Why?

It has most likely expired, or someone revoked it. My account → Developer shows each token's expiry date. Renew it before it expires to keep the same token; once it has expired, create a new one. See Expiry.

I get 429 rate_limited. What now?

Wait the number of seconds in the Retry-After header, then retry. To avoid it, watch X-RateLimit-Remaining and slow down near zero. A script that changes many records usually only needs a short pause between changes. See Rate limits.

Does using the API cost extra?

The API is part of plans that include it; requests themselves are not charged by InfraNest. What a token does can still cause costs at your providers; see Responsibility and costs.

How do I report a security problem?

Email security@infranest.io. Please don't open a public issue.
